Penpim is a community ridesharing platform that helps people offer, request, and coordinate scheduled shared rides. This Privacy Policy explains what information Penpim collects, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Penpim, we may collect information such as:

• Account information, including your name, email address, phone number, and authentication information.
• Profile information, such as your profile picture, city, and information you provide when completing your Penpim profile.
• Location and ride information, including pickup and destination locations, routes, requested ride times, offered rides, requested rides, and information needed to identify compatible ride matches.
• Ride activity, including ride status, matching activity, approvals, cancellations, completed rides, and information used to coordinate a shared ride.
• Community and communication information, including information you provide when communicating with another Penpim user through features available in the app.
• Referral and account balance information, such as referral codes and Penpim Miles associated with your account.
• Device and notification information, including device identifiers or push-notification tokens needed to deliver notifications.
• Technical information that may be generated when you use the app, such as information needed to maintain, secure, diagnose, and improve the service.

2. How We Use Information

We use information collected through Penpim to:

• Create and maintain your account.
• Authenticate users and verify account information.
• Allow users to offer and request rides.
• Identify compatible ride matches.
• Coordinate scheduled shared rides.
• Send ride, match, account, and service notifications.
• Maintain Penpim Miles and other account-related records.
• Prevent abuse, fraud, and misuse of the service.
• Provide support and investigate reported problems.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Penpim.

3. Location Information

Location information is an important part of Penpim because the service needs pickup locations, destinations, and routes in order to create rides and identify possible matches.

Penpim does not represent itself as an on-demand transportation or real-time driver tracking service. Location and route information is primarily used to help users plan and coordinate scheduled shared rides.

4. How Information Is Shared

Penpim may share limited information with another user when necessary to arrange or complete a ride. For example, users involved in a potential or scheduled ride may receive information needed to review and coordinate that ride.

We may also use third-party service providers to operate Penpim, including providers that support authentication, cloud infrastructure, databases, maps, notifications, file storage, and related technical services. These providers may process information on our behalf as necessary to provide their services.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, protect users, investigate abuse, or protect the rights and security of Penpim and others.

We do not sell users' personal information to advertisers.

5. Third-Party Services

Penpim uses technology and services provided by third parties, including Google Firebase and Google Cloud services. Penpim may also use platform authentication and mapping services depending on the device and features being used.

These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and applicable agreements with Penpim.

6. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Penpim, maintain user accounts, provide ride-related functionality, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain appropriate business and security records.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is being retained.

7. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your Penpim account and associated personal information by contacting us at support@penpim.com.

Please send the request from the email address associated with your Penpim account when possible. We may need to verify your identity before processing a deletion request.

Some information may be retained where necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or legitimate recordkeeping purposes.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information handled by Penpim. However, no internet service, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Children's Privacy

Penpim is intended for adults and is not intended for use by children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly provide Penpim accounts to children under 18.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Penpim develops or as legal, operational, or technical requirements change. When we make changes, we will update the effective date displayed at the top of this page.
